Hard to put down 'stickers'
« on: June 21, 2007, 05:04:47 pm »

I am putting together a Tamiya 1/20 Yamaha Round the World Yacht. No problems with the boat, but it comes with an impressive pack of advertising stickers. You know the sort, cut out, peel off the paper backing, position, burnish, peel off the carrier and there you are. Except my 'stickers' are still well and truly still attached to the carrier film.
I have gone back to Tamiya (GB) paid £13.50 for a new set (from Japan) tried again, same result, phoned Tamiya (GB) they say send them back, but do not hold your breath.
Does anyone out there have any idea how to persuade graphics to leave home!

Hello,

If the Tamiya Yacht decals are the same as their R/C car decals then there is no carrier sheet just the light blue backing sheet. You need to cut around the actual decals as close and as careful as you can be then stick them down. No carrier to remove!

Hope that helps

failing that they could be like the water backed transfers you get.

Do you have any pictures of the graphics as i could try and replicate them onto printed vinyl much easier to work with and has a good 15-20year non fade non peel lifespan, (graphic engineer is me part time business) could well make your life a little easier.

Thanks Jay, but there are individual letters, so it would look really c - - p as cut out squares.

Clive, could I send the sheet to you with a pre - paid return envelope, if you could just have a look and tell me if anything is possible.
Could you send me your address?
