Just a quick update; added some fittings; finished off the railings and now doing the painting on the back helideck; I have come to the conclusion this is one of those models that has a built in will to be destroyed - when I very first built it, it was attacked by the swan and I ended up going for a swim in the Marine Park Lake to retrieve the superstructure and its half sunken hull.   Oh, I forgot prior to that on its very first outing, the very original Lynx Helicopter was snapped off and went disappearing into the Lake.  When I repaired all of it, on its next outing a Club member accidentally knocked the bridge off and smashed the main radar - I knocked it off the garage shelf destroying most of the superstructure and now whilst its in dry dock being re-re-re-repaired I must have snapped off the cross tree arms with me ham-fistedness now when I have come to paint the white markings on the helideck - and come to lift the masking tape off its taking the paint off too - as you can see on the pics.
 
I wonder if anyone has a model that is fated and has serious thoughts about completing it I WILL NOT BE PUT OFF - IT WILL BE REPAIRED

I hope not but a fellow boater at YMWA said that model warships were prone to bits being broken off due to the gun barrels and radar etc. It looks like a model boat has to be built from as few parts as possible with lots of soldering and wepons etc with minimal parts. Not easy at all:O(

A few tips I have heard for when masking and painting models.

1, Cleanliness and greaselessness is next to godliness.

2, Reduce the tack on your masking tape to reduce the chance of it picking paint up with it.

3. After masking, appply paint the same colour as the base coat to seal the edges you have masked off to prevent bleeding.

RE the white markings on the helideck, would white coachline tape not be easier than painting grief.
 
 Not many 23`s left now was at many launches of them

I see by the tickets that Yarrow were bought out by what became BAE systems. Do they still have the yard or is it now housing?

We still have 13 T23 left which is not bad considering all the cuts

That is pretty good. I do not think we can do without the mainstays of the fleet if we want to be able to defend ourselves.

Anyhow, how does the repair job go?
