Hi peeps,
I've got brain block!......I've fitted the port and starboard deck stringers to the inside of the GRP hull of my 1/24th steam drifter, these were straight (ish) with only a slight curve when viewed from the side and from above, I found this all pretty straightforward and unproblematic, however, whilst looking at the stern curvature it seemed to me a bit of a nightmare to get deck stringers around what appears to be a compound curve, i.e when viewed from above there is obviously the curve of the stern but also the bulwarks to deck level have quite a pronounced slope to almost 45 degrees when viewed from the side, so the stringers not only have to curve to follow the curve of the stern but also have to follow the slope from the top of the bulwarks to the deck but also have to follow the line of the sheer of the deck from midships to the aft of the hull. Absolute nightmare for me and almost like hitting the buffers at Waterloo station whilst doing a 125 mph!!
Hope someone can help!

P.S I've used 6x6mm pine strip so far glue with two part slow set epoxy, would like to continue using the 6x6mm as I am building on a budget!

Neil, thanks for the reply and the help.............oddly enough I was out in the shed doing some head scratching and trying to work out a way of overcoming the problem when I decided to shape a piece of 12x3mm pine to fit around the sternmost part of the inwhale which I have just successfully managed to epoxy in place, whilst this was drying I decided to notch a length of 6x6mm strip about 80% through to get it to bend, I was just applying a bit of common sense to the problem and hey presto I managed to get the bow inwhale to conform to the shape I require as well and that piece was duly epoxied also.........then I return to the laptop to see if I had a reply to my problem, looked at your thread and tada I find I have just replicated more or less the way you have done it.......well pleased with myself and I now going to give a well deserved pat on the back.
A huge thank you to you for your help.

P.S the drifter hull I have I purchased on a well known auction site from a guy in Fleetwood by the name of Nick trading as NPS plastics, he does motorbike fairings etc as well as a few boat hulls, his mouldings are great and worth the money!

Kind regards. Dave
