Hi Mike
There were a lot of that style of multi boat in the late 70's early 80's.
Although I don't recognise the name "Hurricane", the general shape and rounded transom with the moulded name is very similar to a "Hawk" hull I once owned. It was one of a range of hulls made by John Stidwell and in their day were fairly successful.
I don't think the Enya would have been used originally - far too slow. More likely a rear exhaust, possibly a .45 (straight drive) judging from the two tuned pipe mounting holes in front of the radio box (and the dent in the front of the fuel tank to make room!). The fact that it is fitted with a parallel flexi drive shows that it has been further "modified", as all multis in those days ran solid shafts.
The gearbox is either home made or "Racing Models" (John Stidwell's trade name) from the shape of the gear. It was from the same era, but usually only used on 21's (3.5cc). To be honest there is absolutely no point in putting an Enya on a gearbox as they don't rev very high anyway.
If you want something to sit on the mantlepiece and annoy the missus, then by all means try to restore it - but with the cheap hulls and engines available nowadays, I'd bin it and make a nice new one!
Cheers
Danny
