Lead acid battery connectors
« on: February 23, 2014, 04:25:46 pm »

Where can I find the connectors for a lead acid battery? I've got a 6v but I need the connectors to solder on to the end of the wire but I'm unsure where I can buy them from

If they are Spade ones on the batt then simply to to halfords and you cna buy the BLUE femal crimps there and simply crimp them on.......or you can simply solder the cables to the lead acid batt and put whatever connectors you want on the wires

Hi darren.
 this type here.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/221234377544?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108
prefer the solder ones myself  they come with the clear rubber insulation sleeve,  as stav says halfords maplins etc.
Frank.

One observation I would make, my local Halfords charges over £3 a pack - the car spares shop a couple of doors away charges 50p for twice as many!!

See here http://www.componentshop.co.uk/leads-and-connectors/connectors/connector-other.html
10mm is a bit too big for the usual SLA batteries used in our models. I would hesitate before soldering cable directly to battery terminals; you muck 'em up for any other use later, and proper physical cable support for the soldered joint could be a bit limited.

A chap I know at club fits a fuse to all his batteries so this might help with the structural integrity of at least one terminal. This battery business is also perplexing me as a newbie to the hobby! Still, in for a penny in for a pound.

I will probably stick to Lead Acid for the time being (once I have a model to actually run:O)
