ALIENS: Corp. Hicks vs Xenomorph diorama.
« on: February 01, 2014, 09:26:29 pm »

My lad has some Neca 7 inch Aliens figures and asked me to come up with a background dio sort of thing. So I did.

The box is a wooden file box with one side removed. The wall panels are from an old Megablox kit, the floor is foam tiles from a craft shop, the roof truss is a old plastic handle, the plastic shaped thing on the wall behind Hicks is the back of a Country Slice packet  :D . The lights are old disposable shaver covers with mesh around them-these light up with a battery set of Christmas lights. I printed out the Weyland sign and stuck it on some plasticard. All weathered, rusted. Even Hicks has had his armour and equipment weathered and scuffed and the Xeno has had drool added.

The last two pictures are to represent an image from a CCTV or game/film.

Hope you like it.

Nice one Si!

Aliens is one of my all time favourite films, I can quote whole scenes like some 'Big Bang' nerd!  :embarrassed:

Thanks Bob, bit of a niche topic really, Sci-fi and Alien etc are not for everybody but it worked okay and my lad is happy.

Well at least while you're doing this, you're not wrecking toy boat and aircraft kits.

hes always wrecking kits and boats, wouldnt have these excelent diaramas otherwise  :-)) , your rusting techniques are getting better, is that a dophed cap the battlefield 2 on the wall?, love this, always liked the fork lift and remember the old 1966 annual for captain scarlet and the use of an amphibian version, but most of all i loved the APC best looking military vehicle ever.

The Aliens APC and load lifter are really cool I must admit, The number two does look like it is off Battlefield 2 doesn't? But it actually just a decal from an old racing car kit. Glad you like my dio and thank you for commenting.

A few more piccies. I have played about in re-creating the bubbling, molten metal from the alien's acidic blood, added the red ammo counter to Hick's gun. Also had a go at some low light shots.

Ta mate, this was a great fun to do and really enjoyed it-probably because it was for my lad. The showdown with Ripley and the Queen-there's a thought... O0
