On a lot of the old steam Tugs, the lifeboats were double ended, clinker style.

Most were covered with a canopy.

In most pictures there appears to be a fore-aft ridge-pole beneath the canopy.

My question(s);

How are most clinker lifeboats rigged to the Davits? (Details?)

How is the ridge pole attached? to the lifeboat? to the canopy? to the Davits? How was the canopy removed; before or after lowering? Did it stay attached to the "Davit Span" line/pole?

Does anyone have good sketch(es) or picture(s) or manual(s) / Procedures of the rigging associated with the old double ended, clinker style, Lifeboats, that were used on Steam Tugs; 1900 - 1950 era?

Thank You.
