1:12th Mersey Class anchors
« on: May 03, 2014, 11:44:57 pm »

hi all

i got a 1:12th scale Mersey lifeboat,   and it is the model of my local boat at rhyl so i took the boat down to show the crew who fell in love with it, but the crew spotted that there was no anchors on the boat but said thats only thing missing part from the two lights at front of the cabin otherwise they said what was on the real lil cunningham (12-24) was on the model.    could any one help me find the right anchors and lights, also my Mersey has the house flag on,  what is the size for the red rnli ensign and the the welsh flag as they all diffrent sizes to the house flag that i found out when i brought some for my Severn and arun.

thank you

Hi I have several photos of the anchor and light with a ruler in them so I could see what size to make mine, I can email you the photos or measure the ones on mine.

Just saying 1/12 scale anchors can be brought from Metcalf mouldings or models by design, now as for the flags scale flags and ensign in Grantham can supply your flags his details are on the "coalville model boat show" hope this helps

Just say to mike what you want and what flags required (he will know) and he will supply them. They are hand painted on silk NOT  printed, every flag he does is done by hand not machine

Hi Garreth,  you can only get the old style anchors from Model Slipway, not the type you require?  I am not sure about Metcalf Mouldings but I have not asked him about them as again I only got the old style from him?

Hi Garreth.  I have looked at Anglia Model Centre on-line shop and I think (I might be wrong) this might be the nearest you could buy?  The description is "One White Metal Q.C.R. Anchor x  1.      SIZE: 12 mm W    50 mm L. Pt. No. 59"

Do not know if my facts are correct. From information off the internet RNLI Delta Plow anchor weighs 22 KG.
In the diagram the dimensions are for a 25 KG anchor because I coud not find a 22 KG with dimensions.
Try making one out of card the one I made looked about scale.

If you are still trying for your anchors try "speedline models" as they are the same one`s that are on the 1/12 tamar he does

Hi Smudger,
The RNLI use Lewmar "Delta" anchors.
Here is Lewmar's UK website, including CAD drawings for the anchors:- http://www.lewmar.com/products.asp?id=8743&type=3&channel=1
The RNLI use both the blue labelled ones (here pictured in RNLI stores) or the red label "fast set" ones, which are pretty much the same.
The last photo is the Delta on my Tamar from Adrian at Speedline.

Hi, You may end up making them, if you have to use thin zinc sheet, solders well and you have the perfect galvanised finish. Nemesis
