Has anyone used eze kote purely as a skinning coat without glass cloth on a boat hull?[/size]If so, what are your thoughts on this as an alternative to an epoxy skin (like z poxy)?Ian

Yes - I've used Eze Kote, but not ZPoxy so can't compare. It doesn't leave as thick a coat as resin, but gives a hard surface which sand nicely. It is probably best if used with aircraft tissue.

I've used Eze Kote both with and without lightweight glass cloth, and my current build is balsa with Z-Poxy resin and two layers of cloth. No comparison. Eze Kote on its own is fine for a quick finish on ply but better with cloth on balsa. Epoxy resin is hard work but the finish is far and away superior to the water-based one. Like any finish you only get back the effort you put in.
