39 STEPS MODEL
« on: June 06, 2014, 01:42:06 pm »

This was posted on ships nostalgia the other day by a gentleman called Fairfield....

This still from the opening moments of the 1959 film does not do this beautiful model justice.
 She is used to convey microfilm from one spy to another at I think Hyde Park across the Serpentine. I wonder whatever happened to it.

Would any of our members know what happened to her.
I asked Fairfield for permission to reproduce on here. neil.

looks to me like either the waverly, or the balmoral.
these two used to do a summer ferry from clevedon in somerset to cardiff and back for many years uptil about 10 years ago I think.
Edit, Just realised you were asking about the model, not the real one. {:-{

Neil,
Short history of Cardiff Queen.

http://website.lineone.net/~tom_lee/cardiffimg.htm

The 39 Steps with Kenneth Moore much of it was filmed in the hills of Aberfoyle and Loch Ard commonly called the "Trossachs" and you can trace some of the filming locations to this day, if you can stand the Midges.

George.
