Water stains

The south of England is a hard water area which seems to stain my boats, after a trip to the lake the boats have unsightly stains on the paintwork which seem to take ages to remove, any ideas how to prevent this, at the moment I am using a bees wax polish to remove them which gives the woodwork a great shine but takes forever,Ray.

I always take a spray bottle with clean water in it, spray them down after taking out of the lake and wipe down, It seems to keep the stains away well enough.

If one of your local Window Cleaners uses that 'pure water system', ask him for a coke bottle full.

Thanks Martin,I was thinking of using filtered water out of the water butt which I use on the car and that stops stains,Ray.

That should work too.
Let us know how you get on... and how much your model boat washing services will cost?!

Also go visit your local tropical fish shop. If they sell marine fish then the will most likely have RO (reverse osmosis) water for sale. This is 99.99% pure water

Hi
I sail in salt water and use battery top up water via a hand held sprayer when I retrieve the boat. This works for me. Still needs a wipe down when you get home.

Hi,guys, after a nice day at the lake I used the filtered water out of the water butt, found an old window cleaner mister and it worked a treat, just wipe over and all the stains are gone saves a lot of work and makes the boats look fresh again,Ray.
