Getting back into the R/C hobby
« on: July 05, 2014, 01:43:16 pm »

Hi all,
after many years ut f the R/c hobby and the onset of many childitus I have decided to make a break for i back into it.
I am due to go into hospital in a few weeks and afterwards will beout of action for several weeks, this promptedmy decision to buy a couple of small "project boats" needing either refurbishment or upgrading to keep me busy.
I bought a Graupner B28 the other day from a nice bloke up in Scotland and am inteding to get it up and running first before hospital then possibly upgrade it with brushless and higher capacity after my surgery.
Can anyone give me any iadvice on the best radio gear to go for?
I will be needing t buy several recievers,so reciever costs will also be a consideration..
I have been looking at a
dx6i spektrum or a futaba set currently, but will bow to anyones superior experience... are the throttles sprung on these sets?   cheers, John

id go for the spektrum gear , with the 10 model memory it will give options on setting up different models and with the model match feature in thte tx wont allow you to power up the model in the wrong memory etc . i use both a dx6i and a dx7s , both radios are used with the aftermarket orange receivers , in over two years of using them ive only had one failure , and that was down to it being drowned in a salt water lake following a boat capsize and hatch seal failure ! . im even using them in my racing dragon force model yacht , which puts the rx very close to and often under the water surface level , and ive not had any problems with signal or radio range
