With silver solder so expensive I use an alterative, ROTHENBERGER- ROLOT S2. More of a brazing rod than a solder, needs no flux on copper to copper will join dissimilar metals with tenacity or silverflow 55 flux. Slightly higher melting point than silver solder only 10 to 20 degrees. Plastic at lower temp & runny at high, this means it can be built up, also useful on two stage jobs. BUT THE BEST OF ALL IT CAN COST AS LITTLE AS £0.70 for a 60+3+3mm stick. My son but me on to it he is a refrigeration engineer and has to fix joints to withstand 300psi, so it is good.
