Hi Ian.  I hope you have recovered from the feasting last night  %%

As most Mayhemer's know I have a passion old unusual warships. I love what you are doing with HMS Polyphemus, photo's please. Interesting ballast tank arrangement, and using beam torpedo tubes for inlet and vent.

I have always been fascinated with the circular Novgorod, and whether a model of her could in fact steer.  Not sure if 1/96 will be too small for a big lake.  Super workmanship on yours.

Just a few pictures from taken over the weekends events. I must admit there is no other boating event like this anywhere on the planet.

And the after show party was a great hit with much Belgium Beer, German shots, Hog roast and followed by live entertainment, all thoroughly enjoyed themselves, although the hog was looking a bit hungover the following morning!

Well, I've just got over the weekend! And I didn't even go to the after dark party!
Many thanks to Ron and family, and team for putting on a fantastic weekend, I've never had so much fun. My Dad and I had big grins all weekend :}
Great to meet Bob K, Marmoi, Ian K, Baloo, Stan, Dougal99, Firefly, BJ, Colin Bishop, and Colin-d again. There were some real crackers on show this year, Ian K's Polythemus made me very jealous to see it and I'm sure Bob K was just as happy if not more! And Colin-d's lovely award winning models were stunning-not only as models but the engineering involved blew my mind!
Bought some goodies from Mike Allsop of Scale Flags (a jolly roger for the X1 submarine :D ), ladders and a few fittings from Mobile Marine Models, and bought some railings and a model of Borodino Pre-dreadnought in 1/350 from Ron.
Already looking forward to next year! :-))

Missed you Martin, we all thought that you were stuck at home trying to decide which brightly coloured shirt you were going to wear! %)
Kinda feel guilty now! Hope the foot heals soon. :-))

By which time there will definitely be Polyphemi (Is that the correct collective noun?)

Let's hope so Bob!

''Polyphemi'' seems to be a good as word as any.

Sorry you didn't get a chance to sail Novgorod, but I didn't get a chance to put her in the water, due to chatting all three days!...must try harder next year to get them wet!

Can I add a very big thank you, to every one who donated to the Dean's ice bucket challenge collection. Also a thank you to Victorian, who came to the event on Sunday, and let me play with his lovely model of HMS Pelorus.

Some of those 'prototype' models look interesting, so when's the next open day? Must get it booked before MrsJ makes plans.

Dean's open weekends are normally 2nd weekend in September but may change due to local circumstances. Keep an eye on the forum or Dean's adverts in the model boat mags.

I am doing a brief write up for Model Boats. Could anyone kindly tell me who built the superb model of Dreadnought on display in the inner courtyard as I omitted to make a note!

Thanks,

Colin
