Motorised Coal Barge
« on: September 20, 2014, 11:33:35 am »

Hi

A little input needed with this next project of a 36 x 10 x 6 inch Birch Ply Motorised Coal Barge.

It will be powered by 2 sla batteries running through a Mtroniks Viper Marine 25. Now we come to the input and question of the motor, as there is plenty of room I was thinking along the lines of using a car blower motor and wondered if anyone has or is using this type of motor for some info.
Cheers
John,

Morning lakeshore
I use blower motor's in my tug's they run about 5000rpm on 12volt's + you can use them direct  drive a mate of mine as a 43inch tug fitted with a car blower motor  direct drive running a 80MM  4 blade prop & it go's well + give's long run time's

What size prop will you be fitting  to your barge

a very good choice from Tugboyben, and many tug guys.............and these motors would throw a prop of upto 90mm on your small barge all day long..........but you wouldn't need props anywhere near that size for your craft.......probably 60mm at the most. neil.

 O0....

1. A little pointless asking the same question in two separate posts  >>:-(
2. Read the other post too!.........................
3. They will still confirm the same answer......... :-))
