Regarding pricing. Tatton Park Classic car show 23&24 August. £5 entry to park £7.50 each entry to show. Convention good value. Shame no fogies discount (none at Tatton)

The Model Boat Convention gets better every year and bigger too.

I doubt any model boat event is held in a better venue; Haydock is like a 4 star hotel.

Twenty six visiting clubs, a number of personal exhibitors and numerous traders there too.

Congratulations; not only to the organisers, but to the clubs for the incredible models on their carefully designed stands.

It was a great day out and so pleased to meet so many other modellers.

You have to be patient, not downloaded from the camera yet; then the ones I did of the flight deck of HMS Prince of Wales leaving Cammell Lairds this morning and the Aida Cara sailing this even will have to be sorted.

Fantastic show with some stunning models. Especially impressed with HMS Warspite. Good selection of traders and all very friendly & helpful. Only thing missing for me was a Type 12 Frigate which could of helped me with my own build. My 13 month old daughter was mesmerised by the teddy bear rowing boat with the waving monkey, brilliantly executed!

TLB...some interesting vessels, however one on I cannot fathom  :o is the twin shaft drive

Two x twin motors, each pair to their own common gear box and single output shaft....with each opposite ended motor of the same rotation which by mounting reverses the actual rotation .....is this why each motor has a common direction arrow?

We see what appears to be a common setup angle between motors 2 and 4, but the belt angle from motor 1 is different >:-o?

Each motor to gearbox toothed pulleys appear as 1:1, however the output below No 1 motor suggests a step up ratio to the propeller shaft......or is it just an illusion?......Derek

Derek,

The saga of the mighty Abell Drives and other strange features of the Lady Joyce can be followed here (if you have the stamina!)

Thanks Colin.......about page 100 we get to understand the dual drive a little better............

So even with toothed belt drives, still begs the questions of two motors on one shaft which has been discussed in another thread last week......Derek

Conventional submarines have two motors on one shaft, diesel and electric.
