Help please? (inspiration to build a static display)
« on: January 14, 2015, 01:24:25 pm »

I've recently retired and am very very bored. I've been looking for some inspiration to build a static display of some description. The last one I did was some years ago and was some sort of sailing cutter, plank on frame then veneered affair which turned out very nice.

I've seen a construction log of a cross section of H.M.S. Victory in 1/72 scale. It was originally a DeAgostini subscription kit. The log is here:-

http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/153-hms-victory-cross-section-by-zeptraderuk-172-deagostini/

Does anyone know if this is available as a kit from anywhere else? I believe the original maker was Artisania Latina, we're corresponding via 'e' ail, but there are language difficulties.

I've looked at other suppliers current cross section offerings and they simply don't compare.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Barry

Hi Barry
You can get a HMS Victory Billings kit from www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk it's around 280 pounds so should be a decent kit :-))

Any good?

Close. But if you look at the photo's in the link to the build log, you can see the one I'm after has sectional frames along with 'proper' framed deck beams to lay deck planks over. No plywood floors to laminate with decking.

Fussy I know.

I'm in touch with both Artisania and DeAgostini now, fingers crossed for a positive result. It's and older subscription model and I'm hoping one of them will be able to supply the kit......................one way or another.

Thanks for your help

Hi Frank.

It's definitely the DeAgostini one. Do you know if the shop listing is current? If so, I'll get it ordered. Just not sure if their site is up to date or not.

Thanks
