Sealink St. Columba / Horsa Models
« on: February 05, 2015, 10:35:43 pm »

Hi there,

A new member to this forum and building model boats  :-)

I'm interested in building an R/C model of one of 2 Sealink Passenger Ferries, either Horsa (sister ship = Hengist) or St. Columba.  I'm under no illusion as to the challenge but I have a particular interest in these ferries rather than smaller boats.

I have seen plans for sale for the St Columba which were designed by David Metcalf, these seem to have been used to produce the excellent model here - http://homepage.ntlworld.com/b.s.scott/St-Columba/build.html  .  These plans are available at http://www.myhobbystore.co.uk/product/16848/st-columba-1-100-scale-mm1269 for £17 - this is a long shot but I wondered whether anyone had built this model and wanted to sell their second hand plans?

An even bigger long shot is the Horsa (or Hengist!) since I have been unable to find any model plans of these ships.  I wonder, if I were to get hold of some general plans whether there is design software available which would help draw out plans for a ship and check whether it would actually float  :}  (I'm sure there was a more technical way of putting that)

Here are some pics of the real ships;

St Columba

Thanks
