Never done it but I have always wanted to. I find it fascinating, and I'd love to see if my aim would be as good as it is/was with a firearm.

I frequently look ip how to make a proper bow. I have the wood maturing st present before trimming.  I'm looking at an English longbow. Have enough wood for the arrows about 3 dozen but waiting to see if I can get some different heads made by a friend who is a blacksmith as he is interested too.

Yes.    Lets have some pictures.  Take a lot of muscle to use a long bow, I'm led to believe.     :}

Can you bring a bow to Mayhem @ Wicksteed?

I'm sure we can find a moving target or two!

medieval try

feathers glued on

next lot I do going to put in horn to strengthen

hope you enjoyed

tips drilled ( see tools ) and glued on

edges bound

had a bit of use

different weight and style of feather

tool used to put on arrow tip basically shaves off enough wood with friction to make tip fit

tool for making knock for pull string

what you should end up with

arrows and boats good combo in my book

The other thing that makes me cross is how some authors of historical fiction describe how someone fires an arrow at the enemy. How? Where does the fire come from? It you shouted "fire" at a group of archers they would start looking for a bucket of water to put it out. You fire a gun 'cos its a firearm. You shoot or loose an arrow.

Rant over!

Dave.
