Anyone Know where I can get these?
« on: February 27, 2015, 08:01:26 pm »

Hi, I am a bit stuck with my latest project. I need some Bowden cable with solid stub shafts on them. I have looked all over for them, I cant make them myself as I don't have access to a lathe this small. I have made a quick drawing to show what I am after.

A - I am not fussed about this length
B - Needs to be around 85mm
C - Needs to be 3mm
D - Needs to be 2.5mm ish!

The Red bit is Bowden cable, the yellow bit is solid shaft and the green bit is an M3 thread. Any ideas where I can buy these or have them made? I am pretty desperate so any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Think you may struggle to find anything of the shelf, and to have them made I would imagine would cost a fortune.

What are you useing them for?

Yeah, this is what I am worried about! They are hydraulic dummies on the rudder of my 'scale' racing boat. Here is a link to what I already have - they are just not long enough. I Have contacted MHZ and they have nothing suitable.

the meccano 15 model set has a pair of Bowden cables in it, not sure if they are suitable.

You could try Wicks and Martin in Bromyard. They will make just about any Bowden cable you want. Details on the net. Cheers Graham
