Okay guys and gals

Its been a good long time since I posted here. I am after a bit of general chit chat and idea bouncing.
I have just lost my boat (yes, I know I only had one

It's something I aim to rectify) I'm still a fair novice to boats, but not modeling, so my question is this, what boat would people recommend as an intermediate ish build, either kit or scratch build, maybe an RTR conversion again?
I'm not hugely into sailing boats (well nothing I'm confident to make a good job of in the build stages!!) or speed boats (anyone who read my dickie tug conversion knows thus) I do love warships, tugs and anything utterly quirky, also I do like some puffers and coasters, but am open to anything really, even if its on my 'dont really like' umbrella if you can understand that?
There are a few constraints,
It must be compactish in size, 3 feet is my maximum at the moment.
It must be interesting, with possible detailing routes or ways to make it a little more unique.
It needs to be a robust design, and have good sailing characteristics (I'm still a novice sailor)
It must be suitable for sailing on a larger pond, as I have just joined Boston MBC with there rather large lake.
I know its a big big ask, and personal preferences will show though, but please keep it civil and agree to disagree with each other as required please
Sorry for the mammoth ask here but it seems the best place to ask
Many thanks to all in advance
Sean
