« on: April 02, 2015, 12:41:26 pm »

20 + years ago you could walk into any model shop & buy waterslide transfers of letters or numbers off the shelf, in various sizes, easily.....now im finding it impossible or at extortionate prices.....or am I asking the wrong firms ?
What I need are 50mm tall waterslide transfers of black numbers, (as on the sides of Lifeboats)  any ideas where guys please ?

With the DIY water slide transfers, be careful with light colors on the transparent water slide paper. If the color of the surface they will be applied to is dark, the dark color shows through.

If doing black, and if you have a laser printer, you can get laser decal "paper".  If you have access to a colour laser, there is white backed laser decal "paper", but this involves a lot of very careful cutting.  I did get some dry rub laser stock, but have yet to figure it out.  Laser prints seem less liable to fade than inkjet prints, but that might be down to the ink I was using.

once you have done your printing you will need to seal the transfer with lacer  or varnish because inkjet ink are water soluble

Hi John,
Just remember which ever way you do it always put them on a glossy surface or you,ll  end up with a silvery look then finish with the look you want , gloss semi or matt.
             Regards Howard.

For transfer paper both Inkjet and lazer try Hhttp://www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk

I have used them a lot and they are great and cheaper than some other suppliers.  O0
