yes looked on paddleducks - no mention of it there.      I should point out that although one of the plants they are bringing out is for a paddle steamer( according to magazines) , another one looks similar to a Gemini plant

Not too sure what the current situation is, but I'll be speaking to Mike Mayhew (Waverley) in the next few days, so I'll post again when I've found out more. Last I heard from Mike was that he'd fallen out with the guy who was making the engines for him, and was returning deposits, a big shame after all the good publicity he got for his steam plants in the magazines. Watch this space for an ASAP update, but it doesn't seem to be looking too hopeful at the moment.

Finally managed to corner Mike Mayhew, the news on those Waverley steam plants isn't all bad, and there's a fair chance they may re-appear. As I reported, MM fell out with the guy who was making the parts, after he'd delivered most of the components for the first batch. That's bad enough, but they also discovered a fairly major design flaw in the engine, which means that a Mk2 version is now being worked on. Mike tells me he's invested too much to drop the idea, he thinks he has a new machinist lined up, and is hopeful that he can have something up and running in a couple of months or so. When I get an update, I'll post it here, so watch this space.

That sounds like better news - do you know what the problem was with engine mk1 ?

Well, I didn't fully understand the detailed explanation I was given, but as with all twin cylinder oscillators, there was some kind of spring arrangement to hold the cylinders tight against the central part. This worked perfectly under test with compressed air, but when they tried running the engine with steam, it just wasn't effective, and steam leaked everywhere. I'm told it won't require a big modification of the original design, or so they hope.

I believe that in France you can get them as a ready to assemble set of machined parts . Saw an article in a French mag about a paddler engine in that format. Should be a little cheaper!
