Display of ship models, Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife
« on: May 14, 2015, 10:55:02 pm »

Recently back from a week in Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife. While there visited an interesting maritime exhibition which hosted this collection of model ships. The exhibition room is located near the Tourist Information Office and is well worth a visit.

Beautifully made.. :-))   What is the collection all about.  ?  Is it a permanent display.  ?

I liked the brown fishing craft.   (no 10 down)

The exhibition seems to be about local involvement with the sea, with photographs, paintings and other memorabilia mounted around the walls. Entry to the exhibition is free but there is a box requesting donations to help keep it open, which implies that it is permanent. I regret now that I didn't attempt to find out more. Lots of the models looked semi scale to me but an impressive display nonetheless.
The exhibition seemed to be unmanned so no opportunity to ask questions. It would be interesting to find out if the models were built as static or working boats.

They like their fishing boats, don't they!
