I am looking for 1/48 figures with viewing some of the build posts I've noticed figures positioned on some of the builds pilots and crewman is there a shop to purchase them or are they hand made.

Google Prieser. They make figures in many scales and a huge range, from ww2 to modern day, uniformed and civilian dress. Nor cheap but worth the cash.

For instance I wanted 5/6 deck crew for my latest build in 1/72nd scale. I had been trying to convert some of the kit offerings (airfix, revell)  which are all military personel. Prieser offer 6 guys in this scale already in overalls and painted as well.

Eduard do a very nice US Navy deck crew to go with 1/48th WWII carrier aircraft.  Nice working poses and simple working clothes (Shirts and Trousers)  Also there are companies doing separate 1/48th scale heads, so you can ring the changes.
