35 amp rated continuous discharge with 50 amp burst (stall current) discharge

your probably better off with a lipo like this one
http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__11956__Turnigy_nano_tech_5000mah_3S_45_90C_Lipo_Pack.html
up to 90c discharge rate 5000mah and only a few £ extra, being a 3s lipo you get the advantage for more rpm as its 11.1v

Easier to not hide it, cos when you get caught... and you will... better to get the pasting earlier then suffer from the consequences when she finds out that you hide it!

or you can do what i used to do, have it all delivered to my old mans house and no one knows  :embarrassed:

Hi folk,

I would like to thank the forum in general and all those who helped me to understand the brushless setup and make good decisions in particular.

The boat is allmost ready for her maiden splash, this sunday if hobbycraft delivers the charger,  :-)) all electrics are in place and working.   There are still a few deck fittings to attach and no doubt it will be an ongoing project. O0

Hi
The 3639-1100 motors will give you the speed required on 3S Lipo batteries but the 3548/4-1100 motors will run on 4S (another 4000rpm and a bit more power) these motors will handle 40-50mm x 1.4 pitch 2 blade props or 37mm x 1.4 pitch 3 blade props.
The 3648-1450 motors will be to powerful for the boat(for the required scale speed).
You can add a motor mixer unit in the setup.
These slow the inner motor in the turns via the rudder.

Hi,

Well she had her maiden dip and she flew!  the power was amazing, how does so much power come from such little motors.   Its was to wild for me to controll so I have started to tame it using the ESC programe card.  I took the brake setting out so it has forward or reverse motion without brake, and there are other settings that will enable me to calm  the sudden raw power that takes me by suprise.   I am very happy with the outcome and would like to thank all those Mayhemers who had the patience to guide me in choosing the right parts.

Hi
Taming the beast!!!
If you are using the Hobbyking car ESC.
Change start power % to 10%.
Advance timing to 4.
Reverse force to 1 (25%).
I use this setup as my base start and it gives a nice slow speed with the total power at the top end.
Changing the reverse to 1 cuts the power to a controllable reverse speed.

Glyn
Maybe I've missed it, but which motors and batteries did you eventually settle on? Such information could help build up an archive for folk who might make this model or a similar one in future.

Hi Dave,

Thats a good idea I will use links for accurate info.

The Motors = https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=18119

The ESC = http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__67040__HobbyKing_50A_Boat_ESC_4A_UBEC.html

The Batterys =  http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__11956__Turnigy_nano_tech_5000mah_3S_45_90C_Lipo_Pack.html

a club member thought that it exceeded 20MPH  all though due to a full pond I could not open her up.   This setup would be ideal for my big huntsman, when funds allow I will give her an upgrade based on the above.
