Hi mike,
I use action electronics p100 noisey thing in all my lifeboats, tugs etc...
With the tamar lifeboat you would need the turbo cat sound programmed into the unit as in real life the engines are catapillar turbo diesels.
All the best
Dave.

There is a real Tamar engine sound set available for P100, recorded by Mike Pendlebury on the Long Hope lifeboat.

Does anyone know if/how you could use the 'noisey thing' with a brushless motor setup with lipos?

Absolutely no problem at all. The unit works from the receiver signal, not the motor commutator. You just follow the instructions (which are here in Part 1 of the P100 User Manual
http://www.action-electronics.co.uk/art.php
).
Trust me - I still make 'em!

No - you don't need a Y-lead. Please read the manual; it's all explained simply and with full-colour drawings like this. Note that there are maximum voltage and current ratings for the P101 amplifier and P92 Power D/B.
