Friends & Family Day 26.7.2015
« on: July 08, 2015, 07:08:39 pm »

King Lear Model Boat Club would like to invite model boaters to our Friends & Family Day on Sunday 26th July 2015 starting at around 10:00am.

This day is in memory of one of our founder members, Terry Watson who passed away last year.  All funds raised on the day will go the Prostrate Cancer Research as requested by his widow Kath.

All model boaters are welcome for an informal and friendly event where like minded owners of model boats can get together
so bring a boat and have a sail.

There are toilet facilities in the Country Park and we hope to hold a BBQ on the day as well as hot drinks.

There are however two pubs within two miles of the Country park where ‘pub grub’ is available.

A fee of £2.50 for parking is payable to an unmanned machine, so the correct change is required.

We are hoping to hold a raffle on the day and to have a steering course competition for a small fee and a prize for the winner.

Gate Hangs Well, great pub, great food. Great river and gardens, wasn't Neil going to build a staging so that we could sail from there too ? Neil has some stunning models and its a scooter destination as well.

That's a cracking raffle prize, together with the barbecue and the model, sounds like a few strips of tickets need to be purchased :-)

We've been given another voucher from a pub, this time it's from the Bluebell Inn at Rothley again for £40.00.  At this rate you can have your meals for a whole weekend paid for.

 ;)

King Lear members have been busy tidying the landing stage & clearing weed in preparation for the big event on Sunday.

Annoying patches of weed in the shallow water around the landing stage have been removed, the deeper water is weed free,
so it's all systems go - everyone's welcome to join in the fun!

big thank you to Tony for providing his dinghy and outboard + the rumble of his Triumph Stag's V8.  Paul
