300 is double what it used to be.

The site is run and owned by 1 individual who pays for the majority of the site costs, some donations are made but I doubt it really covers the full costs, just have to upload them to your pc , resize them and then post them as we all do.

Hi thanks for replying ,that seems  an out of date way of doing this considering we all have mobile phone with cameras I will see if my phone is comparable with my PC if it has the right method of removing the photos and resizing them which means I can only use this site when I'm on my main computer not on  phone or tab ,seems a lot of hard work ,can't be arsed  mate !!

Yes, you will need to do as The Long Build says. The photos from most cameras are far too big to upload to the forum, so you will need resizing software such as Light Image Resizer, available free here http://www.obviousidea.com/windows-software/light-image-resizer/ It is very easy to use. Mobile phone cameras are also take very big images, so they need resizing too.

My laptop is still running on XP.
It is so old that I can't even download the programme needed to extract the photos from my new camera. Therefore I have to : Take the SD card from the camera, load it onto my wife's laptop (running windows 8.1), then use my memory stick to download the photos from her laptop and upload them onto my laptop and then I can go ahead and post on here. Takes no more than 5 mins, provided both laptops are already up and running, otherwise it takes a little longer.

But hey, we get there in the end, so it's really no big deal...and from the above you will probably guess I don't own a phone with a camera on it either.

Regards,

Ray.

Big images take up lots of server storage space which has to be paid for. OK if you are a commercial organisation but not if you are running a private site. Anyway I don't imagine you will be posting photos every time you visit the site so you can happily use your phone most of the time.

A good size to post pics is  22cm width x 16.5 height x 72 res . . .around 900k file size.
At this size it wont screw up any text you add, & it's easy to see clearly, there's plenty of free Apps to re-size images , and once you get the hang of it it's no problem .
A good host site will allow forum linking (the pics show up in the post full size  & can be seen without logging in  %%  ) most of the time  :embarrassed:

there is also enough Foto Resizer "apps" for mobile phones / Tablets ...  >>:-( <*<

so there is no need to copy the foto's to your computer, it can all be done on your phone or Tab.. with a free downloadable App..

I have no problem resizing and I am not very computer literate. :-)) :-))

Probably as a result of you using the phrase 'can't be arsed' which came across as being a bit blunt from somebody looking for some help!

Looking at the photos I would say you are doing pretty well, the frame work looks very tidy ..

OK then, now that we all understand each other, lets see what help is available for Mark.

For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, the help request can be found here: www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,52618.msg540443.html#msg540443

Mark, I'm unable to advise on this one - yachts aren't my forte - let's see if anything comes up on your "yacht needs help" thread...

Regards,

Ray.
