My sort of build.  As you are looking for multifunctions then it would be a research type of craft.  Plenty of movement of deck.

Should keep you occupied for ages working it all out.   %)

Cheers

World war one battleship! Loads of functions, turrets turning, guns elevating, firing, smoke out of funnels, main boom lifting steam pinnace onto the water and back again. Hmm if early ww1 you could even try to deploy the anti torpedo nets, now that would be a challenge!

Remember though you only have until 31 May 2016 to finish it as that the 100th anniversary of Jutland!!

Enjoy

Amen Brother WW1 warship fan Geoff. I could not reccomend a better suggestion. Colin Vass built a 1:72nd scale model of Warspite with many elements of the model working.

Alternatively, you could build an aircraft carrier and have the aerials, radar and lifts working? Something Veteran like HMS Furious or maybe one of the famous ones like Victorious or Ark Royal?

Yes, something marv' like a late Dreadnought or a Super Dreadnought.

Collussus is attractive as it has flying bridges over the central turrets adding detail in a chunky way. She was at Jutland and suffered a light slap from the German Scouting group hitting Derfflinger in return.

5 Turrets, differing turret sizes and flying bridges, what more can a dapper model boat builder want?

Research Vessels are a good subject to model. You can also get hulls for some of them. But my next one ( Kontio Icebreaker) will have a plank on frame hull  (Thats a promise John)
