Too true - get some stainless ones from your local bike shop - about 10 for £1
You can drill out the hole in your servo arm to 2mm, thread the spoke through and to the flange after the bend.  You then have a connecting rod which can be cut to length and will NEVER come adrift without taking the servo arm back off.

I asked for some at my local branch of Halfords, the guy behind the counter looked confused when he asked me what bike was it for and I replied none its for a model boat.

They didn't have any in stock and he would have to get someone to phone the wharehouse for him as he didn't know the number or who to speak to.

Chimps or what.

I must be bl**dy lucky, last year I went into Rugby Halfords and said the same thing.  The guy asks what length I wanted then scoots away to the service dept and comes back a couple of minutes later with about 15 for which I paid £2.
I was so impressed I rang the manager when I got home to pass my thanks on to the guy.  He seemed flabbergasted but very pleased.
I bet if anyone else ever goes in and asks for spokes, they'll be falling over each other to help.  ;D

Sounds like prejudice against coat hangers to me.

I just couldn't bear the screaming when I trapped its end in a vice and tried to hammer it into a flat head - so I went for spokes  ;D ;D

One of the lads bought a mountain bike (1000+quid) from the Mud Dock in Bristol. A mbike specialist.
After 4 months the bearing were on the way out (he rode a lot on mts). He took it back to Mud Dock who could not find suitable bearings, said it must be an obsolete, dicsontinued size.

They suggest a new wheel bearing cassette, spokes, whell etc (300 quid).

Out of desperation my mate goes to the old bike shop in Clifton. 5 minutes later and one quid lighter he comes out with the right size bearings.
Imperail (American bike), but only somebody with old stock would have them. And only somebody who knew something would know about imperial sizes.

near to me in a little hamlet called Brimscombe is a wonderful bike shop Noahs Ark. Thats where I got mine from, I rang them up first and when I got there the mechanic had a wide grin when he realised what I was going to use them for.

Hi Guys

The spokes are indeed very handy, I find them good for rudder control arms as the threaded ends fit the aircraft rod ends nicely...just a note...if you go to a bike shop that does wheel repairs, explain you request, and mention you don't need new ones chances are you will get a handfull for free, as they tend to through them away, when i went the guy actually offered them 'if I didn't need new ones' I got 20 or so for free opposed to 5 for £2.00. P.S for connecting them to enable adjustment, try elecricians connector block with the plastic removed, gives you a nice twin screw parallel connector.

regards
