« on: August 08, 2015, 03:49:38 pm »

Hi

The Warminster Model Boat Club are having a open event on the 6th September starting at 10am. We sail on the local park in Warminster and the nearest post code is BA12 9NT. NO IC I'm  afraid !  However all other disciplines welcome. Lots of facilities at the lake including free parking nearby.  Please let the club secretary know you are coming on [email protected]

We look forward to seeing you!

Thankyou and Andy and John for their welcome and efforts in organising what turned out to be a small but well formed open event.

By chance, the local Lions club hald a carnival at the lakeside thus providing hungry boaters with food at no cost to the club!

I went solo to the event but met with a couple of fellow Yeovil MWA members and had a good morning talking to people about their projects and sailing conditions. The weather certainly did the warminster club proud, being warm and sunny with enough breeze to sail yachts.

Andy said he would put a report up here soon with pictures etc, so I will let him have the stage.

If you are local to Warminster and are looking for a place to sail, then pop along on a Sunday morning and say hi to them, they are a friendly bunch with a gorgeous lake. Definitly worth joining them.

Hi

Just a quick note of thanks to all that visited our open day, it seems it was well received. We had members from Yeovil MWA and Weymouth and Bridport MBA, plus another member from a club in Aldershot visit us which was good to see. We were blessed with the most beautiful weather and our lake and facilities are really that good. You will always receive a warm welcome!

We intend to hold 4 open events per year, one per season. There also seems to be some interest in Club500 boats. We welcome visitors on any Sunday from around 11am to around 1pm. Just so everybody knows the entrance to the park is opposite Regal House (which is next to Morrisons) on Weymouth Street in Warminster, the nearest postcode is BA12 9NT.

We also added 4 new members to the club which was good! Please see attached photos.

That folks is first class sailing water with tolerant Swans and Ducks. Thanks Andy and congratulations on getting four new members, that is a good yield. If you enthuse that many to join each quarter, you will soon have a thriving club.
