A member on a dutch forum I follow is going to attempt to build an offshore exploration vessel. Which in itself isn't difficult, but the engineering he is going to try is. The finished ship will have full dynamic positioning via a gps system and once he programs in a course for it to follow, all he has to do is launch it, no radio control!

The engineering comes in the form of what can be seen in the photo of the full size craft, it has 2 at the stern and 2 at the bow. He intends to make all the props work, so its going to be some feat of engineering.

I reckon that for display purposes, and for model boaters who like the build part of a boat best, the GPS system will be an experience. Tamiya had a remote programmable system for their tanks years ago so the scale concept has been proven.
