Wall Display Brackets
« on: September 15, 2015, 01:11:32 pm »

Hi all!   :-)

Not sure where this question goes....

I want to mount my pond yacht on my wall in my bedroom.  I am not sure of what types of brackets are available.  How can I learn about the different kinds of brackets.  I'm also wondering if it's possible to hang from the ceiling?  Is there a good website that details all the different ways of displaying?  Thanks!

Thanks Dave.  Well, first, I have nearly every wall in our house covered with bookcases - the wifey would have my head if I proposed more bookshelves of any kind.  Second, I'd rather have the boat seemingly suspended, with any bracket almost hidden - in part so you can see her lines unimpeded, etc.

Get 2 standard shelf brackets that are smooth on the top and bottom (inner and outer) face. Hang them upside down on the wall. Place boat on brackets.

Thanks!  Sounds good and I may try just that.  Anyone ever use these? http://seagifts.com/shipbrackets.html

If your looking to make it "float" in the room by suspending it from the ceiling, you can get some heavy duty eyelet screws and crew them into the Joists of the ceiling. then you can use heavy duty fishing line to make a cradle tied to the eyelets and supporting your boat.  depending on the weight of the boat will determine the strength of the line needed.

Those look nice.
Try and find out if there is a recommended weight limit. If you have working boats they can be much heavier the static models. Consider removing batteries.
