I used make a lot but my lathe has now been sold, are you using the super glue/linseed oil method to give the pens a very high gloss finish?

The last time I saw him Dr Tim Fawcett was making some superb pens on his newly-acquired lathe. He posts very infrequently on here these days but he seems to look in quite often.
His Forum name is Wombat.

Yes - butjust 3 coats of 'pound shop' CA, cut with 600 grit then through all the grits of 'Micromesh'
I'm told that toothpaste will do the job as well.

Just getting the kit together to have a go at pens.
Will be well pleased if I get the finish you have gomburg, I'll have to experiment never tried the  CA finish.
Any more pics for inspiration?

Nice pens Gomburg.

Of all the tools I have I don't have a lathe, which kind of lathe do you have or recommend? U2

Again thanks for the comments, I've found this site very useful for inspiration and lots of photos

http://www.penturners.co.uk/forum.php

My lathe is a 'Unimat Classic' (6in1) from lathe to jigsaw to drill etc.
I would not recommend it as a sole woodturning lathe - but it has served me well for my boat building. I'm after a new small lathe next year. Again try penturners site for info on lathes.
Here is a link for CA finish - there are lots if you google! I only use thin CA 3 coats and no oil you can get a satin finish by not polishing - using micromesh will give a smooth gloss finish.
Enjoy you penturning
