I'm a Liverpool fan, I even did a tour of Anfield on a visit to the UK in 1997, and sat in the manager's chair pitchside  :-))  Brendan Rodgers has suffered the manager's fate by being sacked for poor performances from his players, but there's only so much a manager can do. Once the players step on to the pitch how they perform is up to them. I know Liverpool has not been going well, but to sack a manager after a Merseyside derby, at Goodison, which resulted in a draw, is very harsh. Jurgen Klopp seems the likely replacement for Rodgers and, while he has an impressive record, it will be interesting to see the Kop's reaction to him.

been going to Anfield since 1963. Did my time standing on the Kop before moving into the Centenary Upper when it opened in 1992.

Seen some great games and some woeful ones, even got locked out of a few when I was younger.

Hate seeing a manager sacked and Rodgers was no exception. People go on about Stevie's slip but it was results away at hull, toure's gift to the lardar*e ex bluenose to score and the like that cost us.

Klopp is a great man to have as manager. If the owners back him, then we may have a chance in 5 to do great things. Onwards and upwards

I am a HUGE Football fan, and especially excited that Denver Bronco's went 7 & 0 on Sunday, scoring 29 -10 against the previously unbeaten Green Bay Packers.

I can not understand why the Rugby codes, and especially the American version (aka Gridiron) are referred to as "Football", they hardly ever kick the thing >>:-(  They should be called Rugby Union Handball, Rugby League Handball or American Handball :-)  At least in Australian Rules they do kick the ball, quite a lot, and quite a long way - not that I'm a big Aussie Rules fan, but at least it can genuinely be referred to as "Football".

As a Leeds fan I do have a lot of respect for Liverpool going back to the 60s and 70s when those 2 great managers were in charge Bill Shankley and Don Revie. I always look for the Liverpool result and if I can will always watch them on TV, great win last week against Chelsea  :-))

One of my grandsons, who is also a staunch Liverpool supporter, has just returned from a European and UK holiday. He went to the Liverpool v Southampton game at Anfield which ended in a 1 - 1 draw. It was his first experience of a live EPL game, and he was amazed by the atmosphere inside the ground. He brought me back a Liverpool FC "Grandad" coffee mug, which will become one of my treasured possessions O0

Peter.

I always understood that it was because the ball is a foot (12") long.

Crystal Palace (aka the thinking man's football team) seem to make a habit of messing things up for Liverpool, don't they?
