1/12th Scale Mersey Build / Refit
« on: January 20, 2016, 10:21:39 am »

Hello,

Last year I acquired a 1/12th Mersey class lifeboat in "as seen condition". The person who built it worked for Bigland (the company that made tractors and launching carriages for the RNLI in the 70s and 80s).

Anyway last year before the boat had any work done on it, it had its first bath trials (no point in doing it up only for her to sink on her first outing!)

The boat will be based on the Hastings Lifeboat in East Sussex "Sealink Endeavour", now the oldest serving Mersey in the RNLI.

Hopefully you can see the attached pictures!

All the best

Trev

Edit: Seems I cant attach photos just yet, maybe its because this is my first post and I need to post a certain amount of times before I can attach photos :)

best way to add pictures Trev is to load them up to something like photobucket online (that's what I use) and then copy and paste the links for your pictures into your post here (I don't use the insert picture or insert hyperlink button on the post toolbar) .

If you hover your mouse over the picture in photobucket you get a symbol (three lines ) in the top left corner, hover over that and you get a drop down menu. Click on share and in the pop up that appears click on image in the links menu and it is copied to your clipboard. Then click and paste in your posting and you get the actual picture when you post not just the link to it.

Just like this......

Hello Dave,

He did send me some plans for the Talus (the tracked tractor that tows the lifeboat over the beach to the sea) and the carriage along with plenty of plans for the Mersey itself.

It would be nice to have the Mersey on its carriage and launched with a tractor but that is above and beyond my knowledge!

Just a quick photo bucket brain test to see if it works!

With today being a dull day I just spent time in painting the window frames for the Mersey. These are from Macs Mouldings and I am very impressed with them.
