Am I right in thinking that the 41' Watson hull had various cabin/ superstructures layouts?

I just did a google search for "41ft watson class lifeboat", if you look at images, there appear to be several different layouts, some open, some totally enclosed, cockpits at the rear, in the middle et al. so yes.

Thanks. I bought the plans from the RNLI, and the superstructure wasn't what I expected.

The RNLI GA drawing of the 41ft Watson is for ON 856, the Susan Ashley which seved at Sennen Cove for most of her service life and is now in the National lifeboat collection on display at Chatham Historic Dockyard.
http://www.thedockyard.co.uk/plan/plan-your-day/rnli-historic-lifeboat-collection/
She is one of the last four built with modified superstructure, the earlier boats were like the Ann Letitia Russell which was sold as a kit by Metcalfe Mouldings.
So it all depends upon which boat you are trying to build and at what period of her life.

Hi Mike. I am looking at the Littitia Ann Russell, It's because Metcalf has stop producing them at the moment I am thinking of having a go myself..I was offered a built one but that takes the fun out of it

Apart from the superstructure changing to aluminium, there were several small(ish) differences between the early and late boats. The aluminium boats had the bow and stern posts raised by 3", changing the sheer, and at some point during the run, the hull belting was changed from hollow to a much thinner profile solid.
If you want photos of Susan Ashley, there are some here:

cheers
