Portgarth rudder setup
« on: March 17, 2016, 07:25:51 am »

Hi everyone,

Can anyone give me some hints on the rudder/servo setup for a MMM Portgarth? I want to make sure I can access everything for maintenance and breakages!). Non existent on the drawings. Like many things on this forum - "it is up to the modeller"!

thanks
Cheers

  Hi Jeff,
If you want to go with the rivet counters i.e. "has to be the same as the actual boat and to scale" you will need very small hands and rose jointed fingers. Why not make a sort of concealed hatch cover which looks like the actual boat but is removable so you can get at everything this it what I have done with the Portgarth I am building, I now do this on all of my builds purely for ease of maintenance. If you want photos of an example let me know and I'll email you some photos (I am useless at trying to post anything on the forum). Hope this helps.
     Regards,
           Faz. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

     Hi again Jeff,
If you want to see the way my servo is set up I can send you photos, there is not much help in siting things on MMM plans.

Hi Faz,

Thanks for your reply and the info.
Yes, some pics would be great to give me the idea.
I agree the MMM drawings are not really helpful for the newer modeller.

I think you have my email address.
Thanks

Cheers
