Perhaps there would be more interest from the boys in blue if the toerag was found and given a good hiding unfortunately he would then get priority over you with the fraud as the hiding would be classed as taking the law into your own hands. Meanwhile matey boy gets away scot free with your money!

I joined the clan on sunday, bought a futaba transmitter on ebay, to now get an email from ebay to say that the seller has been banned, 5 others are in the same boat, wait a month and apply to ebay for a refund.

Hi all, the scammer has now changed their Facebook profile details
To another person details.
He is now posing as Steven Houston of the Scottish model warship association

I have spoken to Steven this morning and he knows nothing about this,
And the profile location is down as living in America which is wrong.

To anybody that has been ripped off keep up the pressure the scum
Behind this is feeling the pressure!!!! <*< <*<

Facebook has no system to verify your actual identity - when I was teaching my daughter about social media, we created a completely false identity for her (a teenage boy) including setting up false e-mail accounts and photos from Google. Facebook accepted it all without question.

Have to agree with that commentary.
Here in Oz the police and others agencies, regularly set up fake accounts to catch paedophiles and those grooming under age children.
Guess it would be the same in UK, as it is a world wide problem.

So No, you can't rely on facebook.

I am in the USA, and had the very good fortune to find help from a German ExPat to
work through the Prosecutors office for issues with a local German vendor.

I documented the transactions, email and bulletin board messages with the vendor, and created a
timeline account for the local prosecutor to review.  The prosecutors office reviewed
all my documentation, and then informed me that they would forward the case to a judge.

The judge reviewed the case, and a fine was levied against the vendor.
I thought that was the end of it, I didn't get any monies returned or product.
However, a few days after I received the letter of judgment, the product arrived, and in good condition.

I was later contacted by a judge inquiring after confirmation of receipt of product.
I resent all of the my case documentation, and confirmed that I had received the
purchased items, and that any reduction of the fine I would leave up to the court.

In the end, Two letters, email, requesting resolution from the vendor were sent over four weeks.
Total time from purchase to the start of legal proceedings was ten months.
It took two months for the prosecutors office to file and receive judgment.
It took the vendor a legal judgement, fine, and eleven months and twenty nine days to send product.

Anything is possible. A local prosecutor and a little knowledge of the legal system may be necessary.
Luckily I had a good person, I had never met, contact me via bulletin board to help me.

 :-))

There is plenty of reasons to have or not to have Paypal...
That said this scammer has used Paypal too to get people's money

1 model he sold was on eBay, Facebook and another modelling forum and was
Sold to several people all over the world at the same time some paid via bank transfer or Paypal

The bottom line is this scum is attempting to steal from people regardless of how they pay it shouldn't be happening.....

There are plenty of good valid reasons, least of which are the exorbitant fees and currency charges, you are aware that paypal is EBay's "money arm" are owned by one and the same.

Not true. They were spun off into a separate company last year. I'm sure there are still close ties but eBay doesn't own PayPal any more.

We must keep up the pressure, he is already scamming genuine modelers names and identities, he knows we are on to him as well as the police investigating
