News from Linkspan Models!!!!!
« on: April 15, 2016, 08:07:54 PM »

After many years and much work, Linkspan Models is proud to announce the launch of its website!!!

www.linkspanmodels.co.uk

In addition, we are also very pleased to announce the availability of our very first ferry kit - Free Enterprise V, a classic cross-channel car ferry first launched in 1970 for Townsend Car Ferries for service across the North Sea from Dover to Zeebrugge in Belgium.

We are very pleased to have reached this stage and look forward to the future with some anticipation.

Thank you for all your support and encouragement to get us this far!

Carl & Florence
Linkspan Models

NOTE - Please be aware that we will be attending the Intermodellbau show in Dortmund, Germany next week (leaving this Sunday) and will not be back until April 30th.  We should be able to respond to messages etc. during that time but any orders that may be placed can only be dealt with upon our return.

Carl....she appears happy riding on water that is not a millpond or mirror like and it is so much more realistic....and that is a fair size pool :o

Is the water surface created by those two I metre diameter mancooler fans on poolside?....Derek

Hi Derek - no, the fans were turned off at the time.  The chop was created by a couple of fast runabouts that had just vacated the pond before I dropped her on the water.  It took a long time for the water to settle down again - due, I think, to the size of the pool.  The fans were there for the sailboat demos that took place earlier.  Yes, the pool is huge - even the 1:10 German lifeboat had a good sail on it!

I have to say that I am quite pleased with the way she handles a bit of chop.  She doesn't roll excessively or pitch in an uncontrolled manner and, at times, the break of water at the bow when pushing through a 'wave' looks quite realistic.  I will try and get some better quality footage at Wicksteed and see what the movement is like with the film slowed down.

The pool is temporary, set up every year. It is approx 50 metres square and nearly a metre deep. No half measures here.  :-))

That is a lot of weight to retain! How thick are the walls?

POH looks great and even dealt with the short wave choppiness very well.

The walls are approx 800mm thick/wide. Apart from the weight of the water, die kinder sometimes sit on them to get a closer view!

Plenty of redundncy in the design then. That much water escaping would be catastrophic.

No worries! Norland is on the way  :-))

If you are at Wicksteed this weekend, you can cast your eye over the plug for the hull.
