Models for a wargames show at Bovington 2/3rd July 2016
« on: June 20, 2016, 10:58:06 pm »

Hi folks. Each year Bovington Tank Museum sees the Battlegroup South Wargames show where manmy clubs and societies design and put on wargames, both demonstration and participation.

This year my group 'Sussex Massif' are putting a game on reflecting actions around the time of the Gazala battles in May-June 1942.

Here is some work in progress.

This is an SDKFZ (Sonderkraftfahrzug) 263 communications vehicle that will for mart of Panzer Regiment8 of 15th Pz Division.
It is a 1:76th scale pewter model and has so far been primed.

This is one of two 88mm AA guns that will see the table along with their tows. In an emergency, the weapons could be fired while still mounted on their carriages, and thus these models are so modelled.

These are other crew figures for a self propelled AA halftrack mounting a four barrelled AA gun (FLAKvierling)

This is a model of a german 2cm AA gun mounted in a captured CMP Ford truck. By 1942 up to 80 percent of transport in Panzer Armee Afrika was captured British and Empire.

Great looking models Ian - I particularly like the captured Ford, looks brilliant.

Looking forward to seeing more on this subject....and photos from good old BOVI while you're there please. O0

My insect class gunboat would look the part for that theatre of war if she was that scale, however, Christian does a 1/72 version hull for those who want to make the theatre extend to just off shore!
Looks good Ian, most of my 1/35 scale models are from the North African campaign shame I'm not there to see them for real. {:-{
