making connections to a P92 Action board
« on: June 22, 2016, 05:07:53 pm »

I have fitted a P92 Action board on my twin engine launch  but have not used the 5v BEC connector for the receiver.
My question  - Should I connect this plug to the receiver or just run without it being used?

If your speed controllers have BEC then you should NOT use the P92 power lead and you also should disable the BEC in one of the speed controllers.
If your speed controllers do not have BEC then you can power the receiver either with the P92 5v power lead or a separate receiver battery pack (but not both).

Thanks DM.
The reason I posted this question was because today I sailed my launch for the 1st time (its a refurbished Range Safety Launch)
It ran reasonably well for a first time on the water, but I heard a loud pop! out on the lake and on inspection later, I noticed a capacitor (C1)
had blown up.
This did not seem to interfere with its performance and Componet Shop have agreed to repair the board.
But I wondered why this happened and whether I was right to leave this plug disconnected as my Esc  has BEC feature.

Incidentally, I am only using one Speed Controller.
