Fireboats help wanted
« on: August 09, 2007, 08:51:06 pm »

Hi folks ,
I have decided my next boat is going to be a fireboat and have been looking at the Robbe Duseldorf one . They are proving elusive in the UK and calls to 3 retailers are yielding no results.
I am also torn with the LA fireboat 2 as it looks most impressive . Again I can find no plans or kits for this one either!
Any help chaps?

Shane

Ref LA Fireboat 2,

Have you had a look at the brochure button on the main page of the builders website.
http://www.nicholsboats.com/la_fireboat.htm

Appears to be quite a lot of info on page 2 that you would require to scratch build a model. (PDF format)
You could try contacting the builders to see if they could sell you a set of hull line drawings and plans.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.  BTW, looks a cracking vessel.

Good luck if you decide to proceed.

Cheers for those chaps  . I now have a set of line drawings that I can use to make a start with  ;)

These are from a link on the site you found Colin

I can get these enlarged and will probably follow the way that chap has done to construct the hull out of foam and F/G  :)

Thanks again  I will be off and running soon  :D

look on the left hand pane for plans . Then you have to choose from 3 different sites that have them . I chose the last as the other 2 are in pdf format and I just wanted to save the pictures and not get technical with saving to clipboard /etc etc .

Ta cdsc   Not a great fan of Ebay though since my last purchase cleared out my CC to the tune of £8k !
I wont use them again in my life ! Although I do appreciate that it wasnt the site it was the person selling at the time . It took me nearly 6 months to get my account sorted again ! BTW CC company did to be honest repay inside 3 weeks but I couldnt use card until they were happy at their end .

Once bitten and all the rest  :-\

You'll be alright with cdsc123's suggestion Shane because that is Always Hobbies of Dereham.

Thanks Nige  :)
The RCgroups link yielded a worthwhile result , a very helpful chap emailed me the drawings he made up from the real working drawings of the original one !
I have since printed them out (4 sheets of A4 per plan) and cut and stuck them all together .
Now all I have to do is get some lite ply and start cutting out frames  :D
Thanks again Nige

No probs Shane, wouldn't mind a copy of those plans myself if that's ok.

Pm sent Nige .

For anyone else that is interested in them please contact Umi Ryuzuki by PM or on this thread http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77749

As he wants any copies to be sent from himself so people know who drew them up and they are NOT to be used for trade use .

I am locking this thread so people that want /need the plans use the link provided and there is no pass it on in email going on . I of course cannot stop you sending email of it but ask that you dont . Someone has spent a lot of time making these plans and comon courtesy demands that you follow the rules the drawer has asked for. How hard is it to ask ?
