Steel drawers
« on: September 23, 2016, 11:02:38 am »

Hi all, I have an A4 steel cabinet with 20 drawers, each approx 1.25" high, which I am using as my tool cabinet for my lathe tooling.
The drawers each run on steel "shelves" with metal to metal contact.
To ease the friction, making easier to slide in and out.....would PTFE sheet approx 1mm thick do the job, or am I wasting my time and money?
Would just a smear of grease do the job just as good?
thanks.

I think the PTFE would probably work, some grease would be much easier if a bit messy.

Use PTFE grease, and cover both options. :-))

old milk cartons cut into strips, we used to use them as telescope bearings instead of ptfe
