Here is my DRX! Fantastic rc car. I love the scale looks. Had a Traxxas slash 1/10 (before Lipo/brushless). It was great too. Beat the heck out of it, and it never broke a single part. This DRX is a bit more fragile, but it has survived 40mph head on's , curbs, barrel rolls, and side impacts. NEVER broke a piece. But, the center diff did take a terd (after running 3s for a while..super fast), and I did put in upgrade aluminum shocks with stiffer springs. Also, after a few deep puddles , I ended up with a corrosion issue with the original speed control(terrible waterproofing), and it finally died. So I put in a spare Mamba max pro. the Mamba definitely delivers more power to the motor. Probably picked up about 7-10 mph over stock speed control( on 2s). Stock speed was about 30mph max. 3s will do 60+. Will test it out with the GPS unit some day...
Other upgrades include body side splash guards (really do help ), OEM upgrade axles and driveshafts. Originals were OK, but the upgrade ones are beefier. I added some universal boots to the axles, which help keep out the dirt at the cv's. A few body cracks, but it seems to be holding up OK given the tough use. I do have a set of OEM kyosho all metal shocks, but have not put them in yet. I did have to change the battery holder out for this china brand one due to the splash guards. The velcro is so simple to use!
My only real complaint is about the tires. They only have rally versions, and these cost 40$ for four, and you can burn through a set in 30 min on 3s. I did find a china brad that fits perfectly and costs 17$ for four, but these are also only rally tires, neither is really for street use. Can't find a 12mm hub 90mm dia street tire as this is a between scale 1/9 car.
At the same time I got the DRX, I did purchase a traxxas rally. It is fast, the tires last a long time, and it handles road and short grass and dirt very well. Had issue with poor design of rear hub upper support arm. Broke off two already. Easy to fix, but should have been made stronger. But traxxas rally is not as fun as the kyosho DRX!
