Which hull is this?
« on: October 29, 2016, 06:24:19 pm »

Hi all,
New to the forum and new to model boats in general.
I recently picked up a hull from the local tip. Trouble is, I have no idea what it is or where it came from. If I put up a few pics, does anyone think they can identify it?
Cheers!

Always worth a shot. Seek out the page on posting photos first, must be below a certain size to fit 'through the letterbox'!

Ok, here we go.
I am guessing from the rear fenders it was a tug? No makers marks or names or anything.

Hello MrP1986 and welcome to Mayhem.     :-))

I would think it was a Tug but I'm unable to identify it.  Perhaps other members might come up with a name.

It looks Ok and would be worth making into a working model, so keep posting and let us know how you get on

Cheers

The size of prop needed to fill that space would suggest tug to me too  O0

That is a Sun XXI hull either from Kingston mouldings or Lesro, I have the builders drawings for her if you are interested, it should be about 35" long and 9" beam.
But somebody has put a planked deck on her not good.and the deck looks a bit high compared to the bulwarks, the raised bulwark forward and shape of the stern are the giveaways to me,and also the huge open area looks more like the Lesro job.
If the hull is sound that deck could come out and be re done and made into a nice model .

Yes the were nicknamed the yachts when they first came home, totally different to anything seen on the Thames before.

Tugmad, I can't seem to PM you. If you message me I should be able to respond from there, or I can give you my email.
