I am also new to this model boat building malarkey. Two years ago i decided that i would like to try and build a model and started to research the options. I decided that the ideal one for me as an introduction would be the Aeronaut Diva kit which i duly bought. As i had lots of questions, mainly which glue? which motor? brushed or brushless? which RC? How many channels? Which type of battery, I decided that i would not start putting the kit together until i had bought most of the bits that i needed. So, i went to last years Warwick Boat Show armed with lots of questions, some of which were answered but, unfortunately i came away with even more unanswered questions, a head full of ideas for things that i wanted to add to my model i.e. lights and personllising it a bit. However once i came across the Vintage Model Boat Company stand, i fell in love with all of them, especially the Police launch. After weighing up the options i bought the Sea Breeze kit with the "fittings pack".
A few days later i bought the recommended brushless motor and ESC from Hobbyking.
I then decided, rightly or wrongly that the two boats "Diva" and "Sea Breeze" were roughly about the same size so decided to start building the "Diva" kit first and put the Hobbyking motor and ESC into it.
Due to a lot of unforeseen circumstances another twelve months passed with both kits still untouched. I went to last weeks Warwick Boat Show with even more questions and had to fight the urge to buy another kit, i.e. the Police Launch.
The Howes stand had a "Diva" built up and on display and this reignighted my enthusiasm for the kit and i have now made a tentative start on it. So far i have mounted some of the parts on the building board but, no glue yet. I do intend to post a build log to show my progress when i get going in earnest.
Suffice to say and to keep a long story short i will be very interested in how you are getting on with your kit as this will be my second build and i hope you post lots of photos and details i.e. motor choice, RC, prop and shaft, rudder and so on.
Good luck and i hope you manage to get your boat working on the water.
Ian.
