Sea Breeze, from Vintage Model Boat Company. First build!!!
« on: November 18, 2016, 06:30:15 pm »

Hi Guys... my lad and I are new to this building stuff.. but we went to the Warwick Model boat show the other weekend and it was really good to see how well every one else is getting on with their builds and we......er... will be no where near as good ...

So after almost banking on buying an Aeronaut kit Diva, once at the show and once we had seen one built we opted for plan B..

The Sea Breeze kit..

The trouble is I can't see much info on the kit... on the interweb thingy... so either they haven't sold many or they are a secretive group of owners and builders of this model. You tube only showing one video of the boat and that is from Vintage Boat company them selves.

So once sorted we will change that..

First off this is our first ever build from a kit.. despite having a few messages come up from a FB page saying just watch out your need to do a lot of extra work to make it all fit.. we pulled the trigger and bought .......2! kits from them.. One Sea Breeze and one Sea Rover..

Starting out was fun.. it's looking like I have instructions .......but no plan. Now I can work out most parts and where they go.. but not all so I hope I will be able to get hold of a plan soon as I'm at that point where I can't work out what goes where now!!

What I have also done as I have two sons is draw round all the parts to start to make a second boat from the wood I also bought from the company... this way I get two boats out of one kit.. One scratch built and one kit built.. So we should end up with two nice boats..

lots of bits to do.. and as it's a first it's a steep learning curve..

I am also new to this model boat building malarkey. Two years ago i decided that i would like to try and build a model and started to research the options. I decided that the ideal one for me as an introduction would be the Aeronaut Diva kit which i duly bought. As i had lots of questions, mainly which glue? which motor? brushed or brushless? which RC? How many channels? Which type of battery, I decided that i would not start putting the kit together until i had bought most of the bits that i needed. So, i went to last years Warwick Boat Show armed with lots of questions, some of which were answered but, unfortunately i came away with even more unanswered questions, a head full of ideas for things that i wanted to add to my model i.e. lights and personllising it a bit. However once i came across the Vintage Model Boat Company stand, i fell in love with all of them, especially the Police launch. After weighing up the options i bought the Sea Breeze kit with the "fittings pack".

A few days later i bought the recommended brushless motor and ESC from Hobbyking.

I then decided, rightly or wrongly that the two boats "Diva" and "Sea Breeze" were roughly about the same size so decided to start building the "Diva" kit first and put the Hobbyking motor and ESC into it.

Due to a lot of unforeseen circumstances another twelve months passed with both kits still untouched. I went to last weeks Warwick Boat Show with even more questions and had to fight the urge to buy another kit, i.e. the Police Launch.

The Howes stand had a "Diva" built up and on display and this reignighted my enthusiasm for the kit and i have now made a tentative start on it. So far i have mounted some of the parts on the building board but, no glue yet. I do intend to post a build log to show my progress when i get going in earnest.

Suffice to say and to keep a long story short i will be very interested in how you are getting on with your kit as this will be my second build and i hope you post lots of photos and details i.e. motor choice, RC, prop and shaft, rudder and so on.

Good luck and i hope you manage to get your boat working on the water.
Ian.

oh hi....thanks for the reply....

I was thinking I wasn't getting any feed back lol....

Yes our first kit build..I sold the diva kit as I too saw it at the Warwick show in full build and thought it was nice but too small....as soon as I saw the vmb kits I knew these where the ones for me....I'll be buying more for sure..

I'm looking to try the bigger motor they shown us...as I'm looking for a bit of speed..if not it's going in another boat...

I bought from that prop man...at the show a £17 stainless steel prob...it looks a work of art..he assures me this will rocket the boat assures long. ..so i bought a selection from him...expensive yes but...better than plastic...

I want to fit some led lights to it...
