Any body know anything about this Polish kit
« on: March 29, 2017, 05:24:30 pm »

Hi all

I have just bought a kit of a torpedo boat that is bought on Poland. I have tried to find anything about this but have failed.

Do any one have any information about the kit and the original boat ?

BTW: It is a funny kit, hull is plastic, there are 3 sheets of wood for dect ect. some metal and plastic fittings and some fittings in thin cardboard.

Regards
Carsten

IGRA is a well respected Czech model company that make some really good model railway buildings and half decent Army vehicles in HO scale (1/87th).  It appears that they make R/C gliders and some static model sailing ships which I wasn't aware of.  I'm still working on what it's a model of but I suspect given it's age I'd say a Czech or Soviet  Bloc patrol boat from the 60s to 80s.

Hi

Interesting I was told it was from Poland.

I have attached the first page from the manual, it's going to be fun building it without understanding a word of the instruction.

So looking into the type reveals that it's meant to represent a "Shershen" class Patrol boat.  They served with the Soviet Navy until the mid 1980s and then were transferred to Soviet satellite countries including Egypt and Yugoslavia.  The model length is given as 486mm which makes the model around 1/74th scale.  The number shown on the box is the pennant number for a Shershen called the "Edgar Andre".
