Taking rc yachts on aircraft
« on: April 30, 2017, 07:51:04 pm »

Just returned from a short break in Mallorca in a spot that just cries out for an rc yacht.
I was thinking of an RG65  but I assume its too big to take in the aircraft cabin but where should the transmitter travel - and where the TX and RX batteries ?
Anyone know the rules and have any recent experience ?

RC Yachts do a plastic carrycase with a foam lining , which is for the Dragon force 65 and can be used to carry as hand luggage on aircraft?  I have one which came with a dragon force I bought. Full details can be found on their web site: -

Hi Slinger,
that's a neat carry box, didn't know they existed - but as far as I know the maximimum size allowed in the cabin is 55cm - or am I wrong ?????
Also. must batteries be in a tx to show it works - or separately ????
Any ideas guys ?

Paul - that carry case is meant to travel as checked baggage in the hold.  If asked, declare it as 'sporting goods', as special rules apply.
As far as your transmitter is concerned, it's all down to the whim of the person checking your baggage.  It should travel as cabin baggage, with the battery still in it, but who knows what will happen on the day!
